Alcohol and drug rehabilitation treatments have become a global issue of great concern. Today, the entire world is witnessing the calamity of alcohol abuse and dependency and the realization of the damage that can be inflicted on a person’s life. In spite of the billions of dollars that are spent every year on alcohol and drug rehabilitation services, the extent of addiction and the resultant emotional distress is also steadily increasing.

The causes of alcohol and drug addiction are the negative effects of chemical brain reactions to alcohol and the consequent injuries and severe repercussions it can cause to the body. One of the major consequences of prolonged alcohol intake is liver damage. Brain activity is inhibited, which ultimately results in an increase in cravings for alcohol.

The majority of the world’s research studies reveal that the treatment that is most effective in reducing the incidence of recidivism among substance abusers is the drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment programs. The substance abuse treatment programs to address the root causes of substance abuse and include behavioral therapy, detoxification, and other medical interventions.

The whole treatment is enhanced by the use of drug detoxification. Drug detoxification offers an efficient and safe way to abstain from the use of alcohol and other addictive substances.

The treatment that is utilized for the purpose of drug detoxification is abstinence. This means the addict would not be required to stay in a treatment center and is left free to lead a normal life. Treatment facilities that concentrate on recovery as well as treatment of the addicted person will be able to offer the patient the aid and support that are required for their reintegration into society.

Drug detoxification is the complete cessation of drug usage, which is essential for the treatment of the drug abuse. Although most of the drugs used in the rehabilitation centers are not addictive substances, they are still considered addictive. Drug detoxification allows the body to get rid of the build up of toxins that will no longer have a detrimental effect on the body.

Medical measures include the use of mild analgesics such as naproxen or acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms of withdrawal that is often associated with drug detoxification. These medicines will not have an adverse effect on the liver, which can result in alcoholic liver disease.

Sometimes, however, medicines are used to calm the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. Doctors may make the patient take additional medicine in the form of tablets to soothe the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

The period of alcohol detoxification could be used to give a second chance to the addicted person to attempt to abstain from alcohol use. In some cases, the treatment program will help the addict in reducing their dependency. Although the normal reaction of a person is to want to keep on drinking, the presence of medical help can help the individual seek the help they need to overcome their addiction.

Another therapeutic method used to help people get rid of drug dependence is the drug detoxification along with medication. These medications must be taken together with the addiction treatments to provide a complete treatment.

In view of the huge investments that are required to treat the victims of the substance abuse problem, the relevant authorities are devising a large amount of money in order to provide comprehensive services that can combat the chemical brain response to alcohol and the consequent physical and psychological consequences. These government schemes are meant to include both the pharmaceutical and psychological treatment in order to reach the goal of treating addicts. The ultimate goal is the successful rehabilitation of alcoholics and people with an addiction problem.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
